What is MoQuake?

The Minneapolis sound, Prince Related vibes, MPLS Funk – Whatever you call it, there’s a definite sound and feel that has spawned and inspired a whole heap of artists who appeal to the eclectic bunch known as Prince fans.

Out of the ashes of the popular Housequake.com website, a small devoted team are putting together a new forum where fans of great music can come together to not only discuss past and current music, but share new discoveries from the world of funk.

Bringing you news, interviews, media, and a few surprises along the way, MoQuake.com aims to be the place to be for fans of all types of funky music.

Come on y'all, we got 2 jam...

Who is MoQuake?

Gav

Gav - Site Owner & Editor

"Gav", "Gavin", "Turnitup", "That tall bloke that’s been around for bloody years" – yep, that’s me. Being active in the Prince fan community since the mid 80′s has meant I‘ve had the pleasure (well some would argue that) of working with a variety of fan reources ranging from Controversy to Uptown Magazine, the late great Interactive Experience and laterly the much missed Housequake.com until it all got really silly and the plug was finally voluntarily pulled for all the right reasons. One thing I've always tried to do is to help fans get the things we've always wanted - communications and recognition. The primary driver for MoQuake will therefore always be these two core aims.

By starting up the MoQuake site, I’ve finally got the chance to work on something I always wanted Housequake and Uptown to be – an online forum for fans that’s not just about Prince, but the whole community that surrounds his work – from his many associated artists, to the whole Minneapolis music scene, to some of the other talented artists out there that, quite frankly, I think need the support and exposure to such a tight community fanbase.

It's going to be a fun ride but MoQuake will always be for, and about, the fans - whatever artist we're talking about.

Pat

Pat - Funky Admin, Busy Bee

Most of my friends call me Pat, my full name is Patrick.
I'm from Belgium, married and two daughters.
I'm probably one of the oldest funkateers around in Princeland, born in 61!

Have been a Prince fan since 1981 and became active online in the late nineties, Legrind website, the collective... those times. Signed up to Housequake.com in 2002 and became a mod there in 2004. I never left again, till Aaron decided it had been enough, a very sad day in january 2009.

And here I am again.

Tim

Tim - AKA 'BorisFishpaw'

Music geek since forever, and have been a record collector since I was about 13. I'm into a wide variety of music and have been a fan of Prince's work since 1982 when I bought a copy of "1999".

Used to lurk on Prince.org in the old 'black & purple days' and started posting when Ben had the revamp in 2001. Originally went under the name 'Kaylef' but later changed to 'BorisFishpaw' which kinda stuck. Discovered Housequake.com 2 or 3 years later and subsequently became a mod there by Aaron's invitation in 2006.

Can be usually found compiling lists, discographies and other such anally-retentive geekiness.

JooZt

jooZt - Moderator & Researcher

People might recognize my name from Uptown’s The Vault which I wrote with Per Nilsen and the Uptown staff. I was also a moderator on Housequake.com from August 2007 until the site's closing. In November 2008 I famously sat next to Housequake.com founder Aaron in ‘De Wereld Draait Door’ in my first appearance as none-relevant and otherwise mute Prince encyclopedic guru on Dutch national television. Researching and documenting Prince history is my favorite pastime. Currently I contribute with my research to the PrinceVault.com website and from now on through this site.

Besides contributing to research and documentation threads, here at MoQuake I'll try to keep things orderly. My pet peeve is threads going off topic -- I'll make it my mission to keep interesting and informational threads free of frivolities.

Jerome - Tech Support

Hi, My name is Jerome (Jeroen)
Married (Nancy), Two kids (Chris 7 & Nikki 2).

I work as an IT guy and I’ve helped run boards for over 10 years (unrelated).
I got into the Prince game around 84-85 but got really hooked on the LIVE experience from ‘88. Never felt the need to get involved in the (Prince) online community until recently. I was drafted for my technical experience and looks.

Looking forward to my time here!

Prince fan since '84ish, didn't really get into the online community until 2003, although I had discovered/been a member of all the official Prince websites before that.

Searching Google one day for some information on a certain unofficial live recording led me to Housequake.com and I never left. I was asked to be a moderator by Aaron in around 2005 (my memory is awful) and proceeded to "win friends and influence people" until Aaron retired Housequake.com in 2009.

Looking forward to doing the same here at MoQuake.
